Montipora is a small polyp stony coral that grows in encrusting, plating, or branching forms depending on the variety, and it tends to color up and grow faster than most other SPS. It does best under moderate to high lighting with moderate flow, placed in the middle to upper part of the aquascape where light is plentiful but not as intense as the very top. It is often recommended as a first SPS coral for a hobbyist moving up from LPS and softies.
