Branching hammers are a large polyp stony coral known for their long, fluid polyps that end in little hammer or anchor shaped tips. They do best under moderate lighting and gentle to moderate flow, and they reward patient husbandry with slow, steady growth. Hammers carry sweeper tentacles that can reach several inches past their skeleton at night, so give them plenty of open space and keep them well clear of neighboring corals.
