Acans, short for Acanthastrea, are a large polyp stony coral with big, fleshy polyps and some of the most varied coloration you will find in a single genus. They prefer lower light and gentle flow, which makes the bottom of the tank, near the sandbed, a natural home for them. They are generally peaceful neighbors and forgiving of minor swings in water quality, which makes them a good choice for a hobbyist still learning LPS care.
